Melissa Rabe’s basketball life is a little different these days, coming at her super-sized and at warp speed.

Not that Rabe’s Lenape Valley playing days were a cakewalk, far from it. The 2013 Patriots were, after all, a North 1, Group 2 finalist, and that didn’t come easy.

But, as a college basketball player the past two years, Rabe has dealt with a faster-paced game and taller opponents playing it. Rabe handled it all, working hard at the game, perhaps getting plenty of protein from eating green eggs and ham (she states that a ‘fun fact’ about herself is that she’s related to Dr. Seuss).

However she’s done it, Rabe has transitioned from successful high school center to successful college
forward.

“I was a center at Lenape because I was the tallest girl on our team,” recalled Rabe, while working as a counselor during a recent installment of Brian Thomas’ BT Basketball Camp at the Sparta Police Athletic League building.
