Hey guys,
The 3 on 3 Summer Jam went incredibly well yesterday. All four divisions featured hotly competitive basketball with many of the games being decided with the final buckets. Here are your winners…

6th-8th grade boys division–“The Champs” Jordan Proctor, Nick Manno, Matt Freeman, Connor Merklinger. These young guys lived up to their name. Despite losing their first game of the day, they fought back to win 5 consecutive games, including two in a row in the championship round. Ultimately it was their size that they used to their advantage with a flurry of rebounds and put-backs.

“The Champs”

6th-8th grade girls– “The Pumpkins” Kiersten Librizzi, Emmy Silberstein, Eldina Kuceric. Decked out and ready to play in their orange shirts, The Pumpkins steamrolled through the ladies division. Using their superior size and skill, they played together and got the job done. The Lady Warriors gave them a run for the money in the championship game, but it wasn’t quite enough. Congrats ladies!

"The Pumpkins"

9th-12th grade boys–“Tough Guys” Jake Melville, Zach Frick, Mitch Cohen. This Sparta High School trio ran roughshod over the competition utilizing the speed and quickness of Melville and Frick and the size of Cohen to overwhelm opponents on their way to a sweep of the tournament. These three, along with runners-up Team Jordan (consisting of Trey Smith, Chris McIlvaine and Brian Rolph) should form a very formidable high school squad this upcoming year.

"Tough Guys"

Men’s division– Jamie McKenna, Rob Watts, Jason Williams. This talented trio opened some eyes by only losing one game the entire tournament. Playing with a blend of quickness and strength, these guys lost the first game of the final only to come back and win the deciding game. And playing against the likes of Matt Tobin (the areas all time leading high school scorer) and Sean Rossi (current Ithaca standout), among many other talented players, that’s saying something. Congrats gentlemen!

Thanks again to everyone for coming out and supporting the Sparta High School Boys Basketball program as well as BT Basketball!
